Meet Marissa
Marissa Olney came to Key West from Brooklyn, NY after doing her first tattoo in 2010. She worked for Jaz at Jaz Tattoo/Greene Avenue tattoo. This is where she learned the basics of the tattoo world and most of the behind the scenes “what it takes” to be a tattooer. Growing up between Watertown NY, Stuart, FL & NYC, art played a major role in her life. Attending Pratt Institute and earning a degree in Fine Art makes her very knowledgeable in creativity and uniqueness.
Traveling is a huge passion for Marissa. Southern Utah, Coastal California, Northern New Mexico are a few of her favorites. The true excitement comes from planning a trip to somewhere she has never been. On the horizon are Bali, Morocco, and Spain where she plans to learn from local artists.
Marissa has a unique style with a focus on illustrative neotraditional / ornamental pattern work. This consists of repetitive patterns and custom pieces. She will provide you with original art, clean lines and a beautiful piece of art.
Marissa’s advice for getting a tattoo for the first time would be to stay off Pinterest, work with your artist to birth your idea but don’t try to micromanage, be open to suggestions and have fun. Tattoos are a permanent fixture that should be well thought out with an artist you resonate with.
