Yes, we welcome walk-ins at Southernmost Tattoo! If you’re in the area and feel spontaneous, come by the shop, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. However, availability depends on how busy the shop is, so we recommend calling or texting ahead if possible to check for open slots. A walk-in is exactly what it sounds like….just walk-in :)

Yes, getting a tattoo can involve some level of discomfort, but the intensity varies from person to person and depends on factors like pain tolerance and the location of the tattoo. Some areas, like the ribs, feet, and spine, tend to be more sensitive, while areas with more muscle or fat, like the upper arm, might feel less painful.
At Southernmost Tattoo, we do sell a numbing cream for those concerned about discomfort. If you’d like to use it, make sure to apply the cream at least an hour before your appointment for it to take effect. While numbing cream can help minimize pain, it’s also important to remember that a little discomfort is part of the tattooing process—and most clients find it manageable!
After getting a tattoo, it’s crucial to follow the proper aftercare instructions. Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and long baths while your tattoo heals, as submerging the tattoo in water can lead to infection. You’ll also want to avoid excessive sun exposure, as UV rays can cause fading. Don’t pick at scabs or scratch the tattoo, as this can disrupt the healing process and cause damage to the design. Follow your aftercare instructions closely for the best results.
We firmly believe that age is just a number. We have had clients of all ages get their first tattoo. Sometimes the urge hits you later than others. Don’t let your age deter you from getting what you want.
The legal age to get a tattoo in Key West is 17 with parental consent. You will have to have a parent or guardian present and they will be required to fill out a <a href=”https://www.southernmosttattoo.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Notarized_Minor_Consent_tattoo.pdf” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>parental consent form</a>. We can notarize the form in the shop or you can download the form below. We will not tattoo a minor’s hands, fingers, neck or face unless there are extenuating circumstances.
At Southernmost Tattoo, we use high-quality inks and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure your tattoo heals just as it looked when you left the shop. Because of this, touch-ups are generally not required. However, if your tattoo has areas that were picked, scratched, or didn’t heal properly due to improper aftercare, we can certainly offer a touch-up. Please note that touch-ups in these cases may come at an additional cost, and this will be at the discretion of the artist. We always recommend following our aftercare instructions closely to avoid the need for any touch-ups.
